 Each and Every year , on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, the birth anniversary of the first Guru of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev, is celebrated. This year on November 8, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev is being celebrated. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on Kartik Purnima in Sri Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev is celebrated as Guru Parv and Prakash Parv. Bhajans and Kirtans are held in all Gurdwaras on Guru Parv, and Prabhat Pheris are also taken out. Date and Place of birth of Gurunanak Ji


The first Sikh Guru Nanak was born in 1469 at Talwandi in the Punjab province. This place is now in Pakistan. This place is known as Nankana Sahib. This is a very holy place for the people of Sikhism. Guru Nanak's mother's name was Tripta, and their father's name was Kalyanchand.


Nanak Ji used to spend most of his time in contemplation since childhood. He was not interested in worldly things. Nanak Dev Ji was also a saint, guru and social reformer. He devoted his whole life to the cause of mankind.

Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated as Guru Parv or Prakash Parv. This is the most important festival celebrated in Sikhism. On the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kirtan Darbar is decorated in Gurdwaras. Prabhat Pheri is taken out in the morning, chanting the name of Wahe Guru Ji. Also, Langar is organized for the devotees in the Gurudwaras.
